Very good Fish Finder!
I liked it a lot. When I caught a fish, I made it swim around the Finder and it picked it up. I believe this really works best when you are using the typical worm on the hook.

Norcross Hawkey FF3355P depth/fish finder
We use it to evaluate swim courses for triathlons. We need to identify depth and possible obstacles. It works well for both.

Ordered this a couple of weeks ago to use on our new 10 foot Bass Boat which we'd purchased recently. Paid the extra for overnight shipping, which didn't work out. At least our shipping cost was refunded although we missed using the fish finder that weekend, we finally got to take it out on a test spin last week.

Overall we are very pleased with the Hawkeye. It does exactly what it says it does and is easy to use and understand. The only thing we would change if we could is to make it possible to save the settings so that you wouldn't have to reset it everytime you turn it off and on. Other than that its a great product for the price and we would highly recommend it as both as a fish finder and a depth finder.

Just what I was looking for..
I was very happy once my husband had it installed, to see his expression. It really put his old one to shame.. and he is a guy who likes his gadgets.. So if he's happy its gotta be good. Also, Its also removable so you don't have to worry about someone snatching it. I do recommend that you purchase the cover so it don't get scratched..

This is a state of the art fishfinder! Comes with the Dual Beam transducer but just send it back in to Hummingbird and include and they send you the latest Quad Beam Plus transducer that gives you sidescan as well as the dual beams.......... I added the gps module for to mark all the holes! I have the 383 color Hummingbird and two Eagle units and I must say I like this one the best of all of them........ Buy it and you wont be disapointed it is top of the line!

I was pleased with my purchase of a Humminbird 717 from "Beach Audio". They had one of the lowest prices, and they shipped the item within a day or two of the order date. It was packaged well. I would gladly buy from them again.

The Humminbird 717 is a fairly complex fish finder. It was easy to install and it appears to have great capabilities, once you learn how to operate it. Considering how sophisticated this unit is, the instruction manual is very poorly written, especially if the buyer is a first-time fish finder user. Much of the learning process was "trial and error" on my part. My brother has a 717, and he said the same thing about the instructions. (I wonder if "Rocket Scientists" could understand these directions.)

I've used the 717 for about one month, and I probably am using about 40% of its capabilities. Eventually, I think that it will be worth every penny. I wish the screen were larger, but it's adequate.

For what this has...it should cost twice as much!
If you're like me, you're probably looking at a bunch of different fishfinders trying to figure out which one you should buy. I literally spent weeks looking at all the different ones available and I finally settled on the 383c combo portable. Here's why:

1) For just a little bit more than a grayscale fishfinder, you get a color display. Color displays are MUCH better than grayscale for interpreting what you're seeing on the screen. Trust me on this...color makes a huge difference.

2) The peak-to-peak is much higher than other fishfinders in this price range. If you're not sure what that means, it basically means you'll better sonar detection from your fishfinder. You'll be able to better differentiate between hard/soft bottoms, submerged structure, fish, etc. With lower peak-to-peak, all that stuff tends to blend together.

3) The screen is small...which would be a negative if you're trying to see it from the other end of an 18ft bass boat. But if you're within a few feet of it, you'll be able to see it just fine.

4) The portable bag is very well designed. You have to do some assembly that takes about 20 minutes and the instructions are a little confusing. But after that one-time assembly, it's great. There are pockets to fit all of the attachments that come with it and even a few left over pockets for your own supplies. The whole thing is actually pretty small once assembled. Easily stowes under a canoe seat if needed.

5) The GPS is fantastic. If you don't think you'll ever use the GPS in a portable...think again! This actually lets you store a "waypoint" at a specific location...and at a specific DEPTH! So if you find a good fishing spot a few feet off the bottom, you can actually store a waypoint that saves that location and the depth under water. The maps are more than adequate for all the fishing you'll do. I fish some really small ponds in eastern Mass, and they're all on the map that comes with the 383c.

6) It's well made. I've read some other posts that say Humminbirds don't have the quality they used to. They must be running their fishfinders over with their trucks, because I've put mine up against some pretty harsh conditions and never once had an issue (I even capsized the canoe against a rock and flooded the bag - no cracks, dried out fine, and fired up on the first attempt).

7) There are a ton of options. If you're an advanced user, you can really customize this to fit your personal preferences. If you're a basic user, you can avoid all those advanced options and just use the basic controls.

Trust me...you can compare fishfinders all day long, but in the end this is the best deal out there for under 0. If you're looking for a fishfinder in the 0 range...save up a little longer and spend a little more and get this one. If you're looking in the 0 range...save some money and buy this one. In either case, you won't regret it.

Humminbird 110
Super easy to use, just turn on. Unit picks out individual fish with its depth and size. Shows bottom structure in detail. Light weight, easy to transport. LCD display fairly clear in the bright sun. Could be easier to tilt up for moving across lake. Over all, functions well for the price.

Great fishfinder for the price!

I don't have the cash or space to store a boat, but there are plenty of rentals around here. When I saw the "Fishin' Buddy" I was really happy. This was exactly what I was looking for.

I was afraid that such an inexpensive product would underperform. I was not disappointed! The screen shows great detail, (on the 110) and when fish were marked, many times I got a bite!

I was afraid of going cheap on the 110. I love it! After using it twice this year so far, I couldn't imagine fishing without it!

Have found fish finder to be user friendly. Easy to read display and easy to attach to boat. Have found setting depth alarm and fish alarm to be very helpful,do not need to be looking at display at all times. Depending on type of boat or dock you may want to invest in next model up for extended transducer depth. Turtles swimming underwater also appear as fish on display.

Solid Depth Finder
I purchased this for use with kayak fishing. For this purpose I am pleased in general since I fish in the Gulf of Mexico and am more concerned with depth than structure. Since it is self contained, it also saves you the effort of installing a battery and transducer in the kayak hull.

I would consider this a depth finder only. I've been in areas where there were fish and have never seen the fish indicator show up. Furthermore, the manual recommends you swivel it around underwater to detect the fish. The problem with that approach is that when I drag it in the water next to the kayak and depress the button, it is very difficult to see the screen at all since the screen is submersed in water.

Another issue I have is that the depth and temperature are read using the same button. Hit the button once for depth and hit it again within a few seconds for temp. Sometimes you want to take a second reading to validate the first and are confused for a moment when you see the temp value thinking it's the depth. It does have the F for Fahrenheit but its small so at a glance you don't always notice it.

This is a very well constructed unit. One recommended use in the manual is for measuring distances of objects while diving. It is definitely build for it. They even recommend reapplying silicon grease on the battery cap threads from time to time. I've gotten this thing totally wet and submerged and have had no problems whatsoever. The batteries last a long time too.

Overall a well build product with a few complaints. Having a self contained unit is a definite plus but I do sometimes second guess myself over not buying a full-fledged fish finder for a couple hundred dollars more.

Norcross Hawkeye hand held sonar
I have a small sailboat without any power on board so this hand held unit is perfect for my application. The depth is very easy to read and the unit is easy to use. It does have to be in contact with the water (I have not tried the through hull reading) but on my boat that is not a problem. The unit is larger than I thought it would be but I think that this will be an advantage as it would fit perfectly in a cup holder for easy access. The water temp is also a nice feature. It uses 4 AA batteries in a nice holder for easy loading. It is well built and I look forward to many years of use.
