Great budget B&W fish finder
I purchased this a while back and was using it on my small boat for estuary fishing. I have since upgraded to a Garmin 300C color unit but I am having problems with getting a good reading from it. I am almost thinking of going back to the FF140! It has a nice large screen, good clarity and I had no trouble identifying features despite its grayscale screen. Menus were easy to operate and it simply worked very well. Its definitely one of the better budget B&W fish finders ont he market today in my opinion.

Better than expected
I didn't expect much for the price I paid, but was pleasently surprised. The screen is very easy to read, and the automatic features actually work without being fine tuned. Far and away the nicest feature about this unit is the dual beam transducer. It has great accuracy not only under the boat, but off to the sides. Lastly the option of mounting the transducer to the trolling motor without having to buy an adapter was icing on the cake.

Garmin Fishfinder 140
For the money, this fish finder works great. Installation is fairly simple. The lead wire could have a plug-in so as to be able to run through installed wire chases.

NOT a GPS! Good fishfinder
This is a very good fishfinder and depth indicator. But despite the name....IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GPS!
This is just a fishfinder.

Needed portable..
Depth finder is excellent, easy to use, fine picture; temperature reads about 3 degrees low. Neeeded a portable, unfortunately didn't know Garmin offered this option until I saw it in the instructions! With a little improvisation and some leftover parts from my last depth finder, I made it portable. Generally very pleased with it, certainly price is right.

Humminbird PiranhaMax 220
I have to give it a five because it is exactly as advertised. It functions as advertised. I use it in 5' to 30' and it when set up (using the menu) as suggested it shows the stumps, brush, and stickups. I think that some would say it doesn't do this or it doesn't do that but COME ON, it only cost 100 bucks. My bottom line on a product is it a good value for the money. Yes this is.

Fish finder / depth guage
Easy to install and operate, used mostly for a depth gauge in shallow water great unit for the $'s if you don't need color or a GPS, couldn't ask for more; it does what it is supposed to do, finds the fish and lets me know how deep the water is. Very portable if you dock the boat just unplug it and take it with you. Did a lot of research before choosing one, online and at the local stores. Own a few other Garmin units (GPS's) they are the best IMO.

VERY PLEASED
I have only had a couple of trips out with this unit but what experience I have with it is all good. Accurate and easy to read.

Great Finder that works for any boat!!
I purchased this Fish Finder to use it on my X-Factor Kayak. I wired it up with a 12vdc 8ah battery and it runs for days on end with out a recharge. This finder is great if you just want the basics, but I think for about more you could get a little nicer unit like the Matrix series. If your looking for something small and cheap this is the way to go. If you want GPS and other features look else where.

Oregon Scientific Sensor Thgr968
The sensor work better than the THGR268 sensor, Also, it has a solar cell for energy supply. The Amazon seller's description is limited and does not indicate the solar cell is included (which it is)and it is used on not only the WMR112 but as a replacement for the WMR968. The seller's low price and rapid delivery is a plus for purchasing this item on Amazon.

Works good
My problem with this is that I only needed the battery pack but had to buy the entire thing and it was way too expensive.

Great
I got this as a father's day gift for my dad and he loves it. He attached the outside sensor out on the deck and he says it works great.

Really reliable
This is the second one we are buying (this for our motorhome). We've had one for years at home with no problems at all.

Nice unit
Nice product for the price. Easy installation, quick set up, accurate information. the only con is that the unit has many features and the manual doesn't provide enough detail on them.

GPSMAP 440S
Excellent product. Installation was fairly easy. The screen has great visibility, even in bright sunlight. The unit is simple to operate and the menus are almost self explanatory. This unit is everything I had expected.

Super nice GPS/Chartplotter
I bought this unit a few months ago and waited until I had some time to use it before I wrote a review. So far I'm VERY pleased with it. It has a great screen, small, but you don't really notice because the high resolution. Bright sun is NOT a problem as is with some other units. The built-in charts are very detailed and up to date, at least for the Tampabay/Gulf area. The menu system is ok, I think it could be improved on a little, but no worries.
Installation was fairly easy on my Scout 175 Sportfish. Worst was the transducer cable install, snaking thru tight pipes already jammed with cable. In addition to what you get in the box, you will need a cable fitting for (2) cables (the transducer cable and the power/electronics cable join at the unit). I used a Big Jon Sports 'Double Cable Cap'. You'll also need some 3M 5200 marine sealant and I used a little silicone caulk around the cables.
My only complaint was regarding the lack of software for entering waypoints on my home computer. The unit has an SD card slot to dump your custom info on or off the unit which is great, but no software comes in the box. Entering points at the unit is ok for a few points but not 50 to 100. The Garmin web site will NOT yield you any useful software! You will need to call them and they will send you, by mail, the trip and waypoint manager software to use on a PC. You should call them as soon as you get the unit to avoid a wait. I loaded the software and am happy with it, you can get much more comprehesive software from Garmin for $$, but this does the job.
Bottom line, I am very happy with this unit as a whole and would recommend it to anyone.

GPS/FISHFINDER
RECENTLY I PURCHASED A BOAT AND REPLACED THE EXISTING FISHFINDER WITH THE GARMIN GPSMAP 440S. THIS PRODUCT HAS SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE VERY EASY TO FOLLOW AND INSTALLATION WENT VERY SMOOTHLY. THE SCREEN IS CLEAR EASY TO READ EVEN ON A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY. THE FISHFINDER WORKS GREAT AND GETS MY 10YR EXCITED EVERYTIME A FISH POPS UP ON THE SCREEN. VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT!

It's very simple, and quite accurate ...
While not in use for fishing, I wanted to understand their roles very well. Bring me the manual to go in knowing apparatus, but did not even missing. As to the precise opposite of my fishing club, there is a sunken buoy, I could see the buoy and compare the depth .... exact!

Beginner's Luck
This nifty little gadget won't win you the bass tournament, but for a casual fisherman, it works really well. Watch is comfortable, and so far has been pretty accurate. Thanks Humminbird.

Just as described, simple to use but limited range
I bought this for my husband for his birthday and was pleased with the results. It's pretty obvious that the fish need to be very close, nearly right underneath for the sensor to pick them up. However, it really made fishing more interesting and worked great as a "bobber" or cork. My husband did say that it was amazing how well it worked for the money but that it was a little strange to look at his watch while fishing. Maybe the version of this product that straps to the fishing pole might be worth considering.

Gave as a gift
I haven't heard if it works or how it works but as far as ordering this product goes... The ordering and delivery exceeded my expectations. Good Job Amazon!!!

    Garmin 160C Fishfinder
I have used the [ASIN:B000ETTPCG Garmin 160C Portable Fishfinder (Dual Beam)]Garmin 160C several times now and find that it is quite easy to use and it works well not only locating fish but the constant depth reading has saved my boat being hung up in shallow water areas where I fish. The optional audible alarm that I added was a plus as well so you can hear the warning of fish and depth audibly as well as see on the screen both fish and water depth situations.

Great item for the low cost!!

    Garmin 400C Fishfinder
I had to return the first 400C that I installed. It stopped working after 2 days. The replacement works fine, but I wonder about the long-term reliability.

The fish-finding performance of the unit appears to be very good. No complaints here.

The documentation is very basic. It tells how to use the unit under various settings. However, it does not tell much, if anything, about how the user can interpret the sonar readings. Also, the unit is dual beam, but there is nothing in the documentation about when, where, or why you would want to switch between narrow and wide beams.

I give the unit 2 stars for reliability, 4 or 5 stars for operation, and 2 stars for documentation.

    Garmin 400c Review
The Garmin is a good unit. I replaced a non functioning Lowrance unit with the Garmin. It does not have the detail or sensitivity the Lowrance unit had, but I needed a quick cheap replacement. I would wait and spend the extra money for a good Lowrance Sonar.

Novice user and fisherman, but appears to work well
I purchased this last year, and it has been installed on a pontoon boat for a full season. This unit replaced an older finder that was already installed when I bought the boat. Installation was relatively easy with the boat on its trailer. Because we operate on a lake that has many shallow areas, the depth and contour indication is very valuable. Color display inhances the information being presented. The unit also measures water temp and displays underwater objects (fish?) accurately. I have other Garmin devices (auto and aircraft GPS), and this seems to match their functionality and reliability. I have used my Garmin 496 in marine mode in conjunction with the finder, and they provide quite a bit of situational information.
